Bumper is a important part for the car. It is a safety device that absorbs and mitigates the external impact force and protects the front and back of the car body. So it is have high requirement for the bumper mold.
For the bumper mold steel, normally the mold will make as two plate mold. And the bumper material normally will be PP+EPDM+Talc, so the cavity steel could use 718H steel, core steel use P20/718H steel. The P20 hardness is 28-32, and 718 steel hardness could reach to 30-35. Due to the bumper mold size is very bigger, if use H13/S136, the mold costs will be very expensive.
For the bumper mold tooling, due to the mold size is very bigger, the tooling and mold fitting is harder than normal injection molds, so that we need to use the customized tooling and large five-axis machine tool processing.
The bumper is an external part, the surface can not have weld marks, and the weld marks must be moved to non-external surfaces or eliminated during injection molding. This is one of the key and difficult points of bumper mold design. Bumper mold is widely use multi cavity sequence valve. It is driven by the cylinder to control the opening and closing of the eight hot injection nozzle, in order to enter the glue, thus achieving the ideal effect of no weld marks on the surface of the plastic parts. The full use of hot runner technology and sequential injection molding technology can improve the production efficiency of the mold and the quality of the product, and can greatly save raw materials.
