TPE over-molding mold with PP part

TPE over-molding mold usually produce PP part first, and then produce the TPE part.
The TPE over-molding mold have two choice: 1.make two same mold, and running in two normal injection machine 2. make one mold, but this way, the mold need to run in double drum injection machine.The mold need to make as a rotation mold.
The TPE over-molding mold advantage: due to TPE material is a kind of silicone material, so it have good anti-slip, and good elastic touch, can improve the touch feel of the product, enhance the grip. But everything are have two sides, so it is also have disadvantage: it is not suitable for the injection molding precision two-material and multi-material injection molding products, the cycle time is longer.
For TPE over-molding mold, the PP and TPE connect part are very important. We could make texture on the connect area to make two material better bond. And the structure could make as PP-TPE-PP/TPE-PP-TPE,like a sandwich. Or you could make some perforated holes on the connect area, to make two material stronger connection.
And here are some element
s will effect the TPE over-molding mold with PP part connect:
1.Mold temperature
2. PP part temperature
3.injection gate
4.TPE over-molding part thickness
5.injection pressure:If the injection pressure is not enough, and the TPE material melt flow speed is slow, it will make the material melt temperature lower and affecting the bond.
6.PP part surface: if the surface have oil or have mold release, will effect TPE over-molding
7.TPE material drying time : due to the TPE material have water inside, so the dry time is also important. If still have water inside, then it not good for bonding.
In theory, almost any kind of plastic are used as a hard material（PP/PC/ABS...）, but in fact, considering the adhesion of soft material and hard material， temperature resistance and other factors, the choice of hard material should be considered.
