Hi dear friend, this is blog of “How to choose the suitable mold steel for the different products”. Now more and more person know the plastic injection molds will produce different products. And many people will join in the plastic products industry, such as Pinduoduo,Taobao, Alibaba, amazon, Suning, Tmall, Walmart, Wish, eBay, etc.
And some wholesaler will make mold from a mold factory. But they do not have many experiences in which mold steel is suitable for her/his products. There are some recommends:
1. If your sample material is PP, ABS, HDPE and you do not have big demand. You could use P20 as mold steel; If you have demand for it, such as each year want to make 350,000 pcs, then you could use 718 /718 with chrome/718 with nitriding; If your annul output is large, then you could use H13/S136.
But if your thickness is thin, such as packed box, then you need to use S136 mold steel. As thinwall products are normally running in high speed machine.
2. If your sample material is PET, PS or PC, then you need to use H13/S136/4Cr13/Nak80 as mold steel, as PET need high mirror polish, with long time running, the surface will wear.
3. For PVC material products, it is better to use H13/S136. As this material have corrodibility.
